YLACES Grant Cycle Opens 10 December
Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists (YLACES) is a grant-making nonprofit committed to fostering scientific habits of mind. YLACES is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Over these past 10 years, in addition to supporting the GLOBE Plus Post grants (grants proposed by U.S. diplomatic missions), YLACES has awarded 168 micro-grants to U.S. educators and 51 grants to educators in 35 countries (on five continents!), all in support of students doing science to learn science.

Through the micro-grants, YLACES funds equipment that enables K–14 students across the world to collect and analyze data and do research using the environment as their learning laboratory. The next YLACES next grant cycle will open on 10 December 2024. If you have equipment needs, we encourage you to apply.
How Does YLACES Grant-Giving Work?
In the United States
Educators and organizations in the United States may apply for:
• Equipment grants of up to $1,500 to support student environmental
research
• Grants to support local Student Research Symposia
(SRS); YLACES will award up to seven in 2025
Students in Kenya conducting research with equipment funded by a 2024 YLACES grant.
Outside of the United States
Educators and organizations outside of the U.S. in GLOBE countries may apply for equipment grants of up to $1,500 [US] to support student environmental research. Applications must be endorsed by leaders of the country’s GLOBE Program.
YLACES grants do not fund staff time and will only cover modest amounts for computing equipment required for students to record and report measurements.
