YLACES (Youth Learning As Citizen Environmental Scientists) is funding awards for this year’s
Midwest Symposium. The award total is $1250 which provides five awards of $250 each.
Awards will be given for good quality student submission to fund data collecting equipment for
the school that students represent. Award winners will place the order with the event
organizers for the equipment and then the materials will be shipped to the school.

Examples of Prizes could include:
Vernier Go Direct Temperature Probe - $69
Vernier Go Direct pH Probe -- $89
Vernier Go Direct Conductivity Probe -- $99
Vernier Go Direct Weather System -- $128
Vernier Go Direct Wide-Range Temperature Probe -- $114
(PASCO measurement sensors could be substituted for Vernier)

Judges will provide feedback to students using a rubric. GLOBEMidwestESSrubric

  • No numerical values will be assigned to the projects.
  • No ratings of superior, excellent, or good will be given.

Please note:

  • The award is given to the teacher.
  • Teachers can receive no more than one award.
  • Awards are given by a random drawing of schools who have successfully participated in the symposium.
