Participant Travel Support

Educators may apply for travel funding support by completing the Funding Application by February 1, 2024, with rolling awards after.

Dinner on Friday, May 3 and Breakfast (at the hotel) and Lunch on Saturday, May 4 will be provided to all participants. Hotel lodging is provided for funded teams on Friday, May 3. For teams traveling more than 4 hours away, lodging will be provided on Thursday (May 2) and Saturday (May 4).

Parent/Guardian Policy

The Student Research Symposia are designed as student events. Parents/guardians may be invited to portions of the event at the event organizers' discretion. These sessions will be noted on the program agenda.

Travel support from the GLOBE U.S. Coordination Office will cover one educator and a team of students. If required by the school district, the travel funding can cover one additional chaperone (e.g., both a male and female chaperone are needed to travel with students). Additional parents/guardians who would like to accompany their student(s) are expected to arrange and purchase their own travel, food, and lodging.

FAQ:

What should I wear?

Presentation day is business casual. A GLOBE polo shirt will be provided for all student presenters. For other days, wear regular school clothing. Dress for the weather (rain/shine) for an outdoor hike/environmental program. The hotel has a pool, so students are welcome to bring their bathing suits.

Should students bring spending money?

Meals during the event will be provided to all participants. If your team is funded through GLOBE, meals during travel will be covered as well. Students are welcome to bring money for other incidentals, but it is not necessary.

What should I bring?

Please bring a reusable water bottle as single use bottles are not permitted at Berks Nature. Note: Berks Nature believes nature is essential to our quality of life. They take great pride in the sustainable features of The Nature Place and maintain a responsibility to help others change their behavior to be kind to the environment.
