Northeast/ Mid-Atlantic (U.S.) Regional Student Research Symposium

Registration is open! Please register by April 30, 2019.

All event attendees (students, teachers, GLOBE Partners, chaperones, etc.) must register individually and sign a media release (available through the registration form). A parent/guardian MUST register their own child.

Teachers, students, U.S. Partners, scientists and alumni from the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region (DE, DC, CT, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT, VA, WV) are invited to gather and discuss GLOBE student research projects at the fourth annual Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Student Research Symposium (SRS). This event will include presentations of student research, professional development for teachers, and networking and collaboration opportunities for all participants.

Friday, May 31

1:00 - 5:00 pm	Arrival, Registration, Poster Set-Up
5:00 - 6:00 pm	Welcome, Group Dinner, Keynote Speaker
6:00 - 9:00 pm	Ice Breaker, Group Activity (poster set-up for late-arriving students)

Saturday, June 1

8:00 - 9:00 am	Breakfast (at the SRS meeting location)
9:00 - 9:30 am	Final Poster Set-up and Practice
9:30 - 12:00 am	Poster Rotation and Project Review by Scientists and Peers Professional Development for Teachers & GLOBE Partners
12:00 - 1:00 pm	Lunch (provided at the SRS meeting location)
1:00 - 3:00 pm	Breakout Groups: Hands-on Science Activities for Teachers and Students Reviewer Deliberations
3:00 - 4:00 pm	Recognition, Evaluation, and Closing

Research Projects:

Student projects will be presented in a poster presentation format. Poster size should be no more than 36" by 48". All projects must use GLOBE protocols or GLOBE data, and data collected should be entered in the GLOBE Database. If you have questions about data entry, please contact your cooperating Partnership.

Participant Travel Support:

Teachers may apply for travel funding support by completing the Funding Application by February 1, 2019. For more information and eligibility, please see the SRS Logistics page.

Lodging:

Participants will stay on campus in the 1019 Commonwealth Avenue Residence Hall.

FAQ:

What should I wear?

Presentation day (Saturday) is business casual. For other days, wear regular school clothing.

Should students bring spending money?

Meals during the event will be provided to all participants. If your team is funded through GLOBE, meals during travel will be covered as well. Students are welcome to bring money for other incidentals, but it is not necessary.
