Southeast (U.S.) Regional Science Fair


Registration is OPEN! Please register by May 1, 2016.

Teachers, students, US Partnerships, scientists and alumni from the Southeast geographic area (AL, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, and TN) are invited to gather and discuss GLOBE student research projects at the first annual Southeast US regional conference. This two-day event will include judging of the science fair entries, professional development for teachers and networking opportunities for participants. Meals and lodging are provided by GLOBE. Funding for travel will be arranged through your sponsoring GLOBE Partnership.

Please see below for a tentative agenda and travel details, and follow this page for the most current information. Flights are available to and from the Jackson-Evers International Airport. Email sherry.herron@usm.edu if you will be flying into Jackson. Transportation to and from the airport will be arranged. If you have any questions, contact Sherry Herron. Please register by May 1st.

 

Thursday, May 5

3:00 pm

Check into Garaywa Camp and Conference Center http://www.garaywa.org/. Rooms booked under GLOBE Science Fair. Please bring your own sheets or sleeping bags and pillows.

5:00 pm

Geocaching

6:30 pm

Dinner at Garaywa

7:45 pm - 9:00 pm

Bonfire and Team-building Challenges (Students & Teachers)

 

Friday, May 6

7:30 am

Breakfast at Garaywa.

8:30 am

Bus departs from Garaywa to Museum

8:30 am - 10:00 am

Students set up presentation boards and prepare.

10:00 am -12:00 pm

Science Fair Judging

9:30 am - 11:00 am

Teacher workshop

12:00 pm -1:00 pm

Lunch at Museum

1:15 pm - 3:00 pm

Tour of Museum and Trail

Keynote Speaker, Awards, and Closing Ceremony

Science Fair Projects

On the registration form, please indicate how many posters you will be bringing. Posters should be no more than 24" x 36." 

Participant Travel Support

Partners will pay their own travel and receive a reimbursement after filling out the proper paperwork.
