Collaborations Across the United States with the AREN Project and GLOBE Mission EARTH
The University of Toledo GLOBE Mission EARTH team (GME-UT) is extending its work with the AEROKATS & ROVER Education Network (AREN) project for the second year. This year teachers will be trained to use the AquaROVERs (Remotely Operated Vehicles for Education and Research) to collect water quality data from local waters. Andy Henry will train the teachers at the University of Toledo location (onsite) and at the same time, teachers located at other sites in Michigan, Ohio, and New York (virtually).
The collaborative effort includes the following: Dr. Kevin Czajkowski from the University of Toledo in Toledo, OH, Dr. Amanda Gilbert, Defiance College in Defiance, OH, Dr. Mitchell Klett from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI, David Bydlowski from Wayne RESA (part of the AREN project) in Detroit, MI, and Dr. Michael Jabot from State University of New York at Fredonia, New York.
The AquaROVER systems used in the professional development were assembled by James Moon-Dupree (Wayne RESA) with assistance from Kay Rufty and Ted Miles (Black Swift Technologies).
