University of South Florida Impacts over 300 students through GLOBE training
In the summer of 2019, the University of South Florida GLOBE Partnership completed a NOAA Gulf of Mexico BWET program that utilized Elementary GLOBE protocols.
For the NOAA program they trained 12 elementary teachers using GLOBE Elementary protocols and during the school year over 300 elementary students grades 3-5 took GLOBE measurements from their classrooms. They printed hard copies of the Cloud story book for each classroom so that elementary students could read the Cloud Book provided on the GLOBE website. Students also participated in coastal ecology field trips to meaningfully experience their local Florida watershed. During field trips students continued monitoring their environment by incorporating GLOBE atmospheric protocols. The program culminated with stewardship activities by each school.
