As always, GLOBE continues to work to ensure that your “use” of the website, and associated apps, is as user-friendly as possible. On 22 July, GLOBE released a number of enhancements to the GLOBE website and to The GLOBE Program’s App, GLOBE Observer:

  • New Features for Teachers and Students: Teachers will be able to create student accounts in “bulk.” Teachers will also be able to go to their “MyPage” and see a list of all students, and others associated with the school, and the total number of data each student has contributed (and when the data was posted).
  • GLOBE Teams: Teachers can make their own GLOBE Team(s), assign students to the team, and see how much data each student has entered. Student accounts now have both generic and personalized naming to uniquely identify each student. GLOBE Teams will feature the screen name for observers and students, and the real name for trained GLOBE individuals.
  • The “MyObservations” Page: This page is being enhanced to include all protocols, not just the four primary protocols. At any time, users can go to their “MyObservations” page and see the protocols they have entered data for and what data has been entered. (Teachers: This is true for all of your students, or members of your GLOBE Team.) NOTE: “MyObservations is linked from the left-hand navigation under “GoTo.”
  • Hydrospere Protocol: The full set of hydrology protocols has been added to the GLOBE Observer app. Now, all trained users can access atmosphere and hydrosphere protocols from within the app. A new simplified site setup process and improved interface makes it easy to enter data from any mobile device. (An identical set of forms is also available on desktop so whether you’re on a phone or a computer, you will see the same set of forms.)

GLOBE hopes you enjoy these new features. If you have any questions, would like to make suggestions or provide feedback, or need assistance, contact the GLOBE Community Support Team (CST) at: globehelp@ucar.edu
