January 2023 GLOBE Tech Update
As always, GLOBE continues to work to ensure that your “use” of the website, and associated apps, is as user-friendly as possible.
For the coming year, the Data Information Systems (DIS) team is working on several additions and enhancements to The GLOBE Program’s website and applications with the goal to help further streamline and improve the ability to support the GLOBE community.
The GLOBE community can expect to see the following in 2023:
- the ability to add all new Davis Weather stations to report automatically to GLOBE;
- the addition of biosphere protocols for trained users in The GLOBE Program’s app, GLOBE Observer (pedosphere protocols to come next);
- a new account creation process to better support new teachers and informal educators;
- a roadmap with guides to help new teachers take advantage of all of GLOBE’s features;
- the creation of a new tutorial center that will bring together the various GLOBE tutorials throughout the site into one easy-to-use interface;
- the development of a new site architecture to simplify and improve a user’s ability to find what they need on the site; and
- improvements to the GLOBE Trainer and GLOBE Master Trainer certification application process.
And, of course, more enhancements and additions will be provided as needs arise throughout the year. Please contact your GLOBE Technology Working Group member if you have more ideas on how we can improve the website or the apps.
