Register Now for Wednesday’s (06 April) GLOBE El Niño Field Campaign Webinar: “Surface Temperature and Soil Temperature”
There’s still time to register for the 06 April GLOBE El Niño Field Campaign Webinar: “Surface Temperature and Soil Temperature.” This webinar will begin at 8:00 p.m. EDT (12 a.m. 07 April UTC).
In this hour-long webinar, Dr. Kevin Czajkowski of the University of Toledo will discuss why these measurements are important and will share some of the ways that this data is used for societal applications. Participants will learn how NASA satellites are able to collect this data from space, and will learn how to locate and analyze some of these data sets. Rick Sharpe, a GLOBE teacher from West Virginia, who is currently using these protocols with students, will do a review of the Surface Temperature and Soil Temperature protocols and offer best practices for implementation in classroom settings.
As part of the GLOBE El Niño Field Campaign, which began on Tuesday, 01 March 2016, there will be a suite of six GLOBE measurement protocols (including the SMAP protocol) that will serve as ways to identify environmental changes affected by El Niño. There will also be regular webinars to discuss the mechanics of the campaign, give updates on data collection, and explore science with experts. Register for all of the webinars here!
Throughout the campaign, updates about data collection and analysis, as well as guest blogs from scientists about how they study El Niño and teachers doing data collection with their students will be posted. Keep checking back here!
The El Niño Field Campaign Team would like to request that anyone participating in the El Niño Field Campaign register as a campaign member. This will allow the El Niño Field Campaign Team to know who is participating in the campaign, and allow them to reach out directly to campaign members. El Niño Field Campaign Members can also contact the El Niño Field Campaign Team with questions, issues, concern, news, etc.
Please register as an El Niño Field Campaign Member today. The El Niño Field Campaign Team is excited that you have chosen to be a part of the campaign.
