Leadership Change at the GLOBE Program Office
Dr. Allison Leidner is stepping down from her role as GLOBE Program Manager in the Earth Science Division at NASA Headquarters. After nearly five years under the strategic leadership of Dr. Leidner, GLOBE has seen an increase in NASA’s recognition of, and funding for, The GLOBE Program, which will afford more opportunities to sustain the infrastructure that supports Partners around the world; advance GLOBE education and science; and increase support for the U.S. Country Coordinator Office and U.S. Partners.
Replacing Dr. Leidner as GLOBE Program Manager is Dr. Amy P. Chen. who has been working with Dr. Leidner for the past two years as GLOBE Associate Program Manager. With a Ph.D in Environmental Science and M.S. & B.S. degrees in Geophysics, Dr. Chen brings considerable skill in scientific research as well scientific and educational program management and evaluation.
The GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO) welcomes Dr. Chen whose new position allows her to focus on The GLOBE Program exclusively. The GIO expresses gratitude to Dr. Leidner, for whom GLOBE was a cherished program within her management portfolio. She will be continuing at NASA, focusing on climate-related programs in the Earth Science Division. Dr. Leidner writes, “GLOBE has been one of several responsibilities I’ve held over the past few years. I will still have opportunities to connect with GLOBE, which really warms my heart. As you all know, once you are part of the GLOBE community, you never truly leave!”
