Teachers: New Tornadoes Teaching Box Now Available – Make a Tornado in Your Classroom!
A new University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) Center for Science Education (SciEd) Tornadoes Teaching Box is now available!
UCAR teaching boxes are collections of classroom-ready and standards-aligned activities, content, and multimedia that build student understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math. All materials are freely available online.
In the Tornadoes Teaching Box, you will find a collection of educational materials to help middle and high school students learn why and where tornadoes happen, and how these weather events impact people’s lives. (For example, “Make a Tornado in Your Classroom,” an activity where students make a model of a tornado to visualize how they form, and explore factors that influence why certain areas in the United States have more tornadoes than other areas.)
The Tornadoes Teaching Box connects you to a wealth of free resources, such as classroom activities, videos, and images -- and is aligned with the U.S. Next Generation Science Standards.
