GLOBE Mission EARTH Teacher Laura Kubiak at Toledo Technology Academy of Engineering (TTAE) in Toledo, Ohio was featured on our local news about her students' GLOBE research! She combines GLOBE data collection with analysis of renewable energy technologies like wind turbines and solar panels. She also utilized the AREN Project's kites to collect atmospheric data with her students. Check out the video below! GLOBE Mission EARTH's Project Coordinator Sara Mierzwiak was a featured guest speaker at the 34th annual Student Watershed Watch Summit. Sara and her former high school Environmental Science teacher, Tim Bollin, co-presented about the impact of the program. Tim Bollin was one of the first teachers to become active in the program. Sara's experience in his high school class with testing water quality of the local waterways had an enormous impact on her academic and career choices.  >>

Another successful Fall 2024 Student Field Days at Earth Heart Farms has just concluded! Between 3 October and 17 October, over 350 students from Northwest Ohio K-12 schools visited, experienced nature firsthand, and enjoyed perfect weather for explorations. GLOBE Mission EARTH staff instructed students on collecting GLOBE data using Atmosphere, Hydrosphere, Biosphere and Pedosphere protocols. Local conservation professionals served as volunteers in helping students investigate flora and fauna.  >>

GLOBE Mission EARTH teacher Joe Carstensen has been featured on the GLOBE website for his work with his high school students. Joe has developed a unique approach to providing students freedom to utilize the GLOBE website's eTrainings to become trained in protocols of their choosing, and employ what they learn in developing their own research projects throughout the school year. GLOBE Mission EARTH/University of Toledo, OH has partnered with Earth Heart Farms in Oak Harbor, Ohio to host its 3rd summer of Teacher Professional Development. This summer, 8 teachers participated in the PD and were trained in GLOBE Atmosphere, Hydrosphere and Pedosphere protocols.  >>

The 2023 in-person North American Regional Meeting (NARM) was hosted by GLOBE Mission EARTH (GME) teacher Julie Houck in Defiance, Ohio. The event brought together 22 participants from several U.S. states to attend. GLOBE Partners from GLOBE Mission Earth/UT, AEROKATS and ROVER Education Network (AREN), Toledo Zoo with Project Prairie, Xcite Learning, and My NASA Data (NASA Langley Research Center) shared their projects, resources and expertise with participants throughout the two-day event.  >>

Seventy-two students from four states (Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin) participated in the 2024 GLOBE Midwest Student Research Symposium, held at the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium (Ohio) from May 6-8, 2024.
