June 2015 Letter to the Community
Letter to the Community
June 2015
Dear Friends,
The 19th GLOBE Annual Meeting and 3rd GLOBE Student Research Exhibition in Los Angeles is just 3 weeks away! Here at the GLOBE Implementation Office, we are working hand in hand with our host GLOBE Partner Henry Ortiz and his staff in Los Angeles to make it our best gathering yet. Because of this, my community letter will be a short one, with just a few reminders that are important for everyone.
For those who will be traveling to Los Angeles:
- Please bring memorabilia for the GLOBE 20th Anniversary Nostalgia Table. We will display your calendars, books, T-shirts, photographs, signed LandSat images, pins, pens and other memorabilia to commemorate GLOBE's 20-year history. Please mark your items with your name and country, so that you can retrieve them.
- If you are able, please plan to wear your national dress for the special dinner on Thursday evening, 23 July. This is a wonderful tradition that has evolved over the years, and if this is your first time attending an Annual Meeting, you will want to know about it. It's fun to see our community looking more vibrant than ever, in national dress. But no pressure here! National dress is entirely optional, and if you don't have a national dress, just save the best outfit in your suitcase for Thursday evening.
For everyone else:
Please follow the event on Facebook and Twitter. We'll be reporting on the meeting and posting images throughout the event. Be sure to follow along from 20 through 24 July.
I'm looking forward to seeing many of you there.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tony Murphy
