Discover the Wonders of the World’s Forests!

Greetings, middle and high school educators! Are you ready to bring the wonders of forests into your classroom? Dive into this blog series that bridges the resources of Natural Inquirer and the GLOBE Program, designed to inspire curiosity, scientific exploration, and environmental stewardship among your students.

GLOBE and Natural Inquirer Crosswalk

This series is part of the  GLOBE and Natural Inquirer Crosswalk Project, which connects the hands-on science of the GLOBE Program with the captivating research found in Natural Inquirer. Together, they offer dynamic ways to enrich your lessons and help students explore the science of our planet.

Natural Inquirer: A free, student-friendly science journal where scientists share their research in an approachable way. While many of their journals target middle and high school learners, there are also versions and resources for younger audiences.

The GLOBE Program: A global science and education initiative that empowers students to conduct their own Earth system science investigations. Using GLOBE protocols, activities, and resources, students connect with the environment and cultivate their scientific literacy.

Spotlight: The World’s Forests 2 Blog Series

This blog series highlights the Natural Inquirer “The World’s Forests 2” edition, a summary of the findings of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s global forest assessment. This edition translates complex data into an engaging format perfect for middle and high school students.

Featuring five inquiries, “The World’s Forests 2” takes your students on a journey to explore pressing questions about forests worldwide. Each inquiry is designed to build upon the previous one and comes with ready-to-use lesson plans (starting on page 50 of the journal).
