The hotel and dorm rooms are being reserved across the country for the United States Regional Student Research Symposia (SRS). The agendas are roughed out. The speakers are confirming. Students are carrying out GLOBE protocols and analyzing data. Teachers are applying for funding to support team travel (due February 1st).
All of this gives me a chance to think about the students that have attended the SRS the past two years. GLOBE Partnership coordinators, GIO and I have met some incredible students and teachers. We'll be posting their stories for you to read too. The first one is already up. By holding these events and talking to the participants, we have learned about the challenges in science education across the country - and how schools are using GLOBE as one method to advance "science for all." We hope that GLOBE and the SRS inspire students to pursue STEM careers, if that is what interests them.
If you do not already subscribe, NSTA Next Gen Navigator sent out an issue on the topic of "Science for All." I've linked to the issue here. I found many resources in this one newsletter. Ones that I have already bookmarked myself are the NGSS Appendix D and Practice Brief 15: How Can We Promote Equity in Science Education?
