Project Title: Is there a relationship between Carbon Dioxide and Aerosols in the air?

Abstract: Our research is about carbon dioxide and aerosols because we wanted to learn about pollution.
Our research question is “ Is there a relationship between carbon dioxide and aerosols in the air?”
The GLOBE protocols we used were Aerosol Protocol to test AOT.
The results of our research are that there is no correlation between AOT and CO2.
We conclude that there is no relationship between AOT and CO2 at the atmosphere level tested.

Hello, my name is Yunqian and I am a research scientist from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I'm also a GLOBE GISN member.
I think you've learned a great concept of climate change. Not all environmental concerns are equivalent to global warming. air pollution is a different concept. But I would like to tell you the air pollution can affect the earth's temperature indirectly. The aerosols floating in the air can sometimes reflect the sunlight back to space. The aerosols can also change cloud formation in the region and the cloud can block the sunlight too. In this case, aerosols play a very important role to determine the temperature of the earth.

I am a retired petroleum engineer and an engineering R&D specialist. I now work with K-12 educators in a local non-profit Global STEM Education Center (www.globalstemcenter.org) in Massachusetts. It is a pleasure "meeting" you and your teacher virtually! Thank you for devoting your research project to a very important topic. Learning more about carbon monoxide and aerosols is crucially important to all of us - researchers, students, educators; citizen scientists etc. This is a "must have knowledge" to all of us. You have developed a great set of questions, a hypothesis; you wrote a great introduction and provided excellent field study illustrations; great description of the research methods, data collection and data interpretation. Greatly organized poster! I appreciate your efforts and hard work on this research project! I also like the references you have provided and will recommend my students to read “The Carbon Cycle (Earth's Cycles in Action)” book by Diane Dakers. I would like to encourage you to continue your studies and your participation in GLOBE and GLOBE SRS! Great job!
