Our mission is active—the NASA IMPACTS Daily Science Plan (https://catalog.eol.ucar.edu/impacts_2023) indicates that a flight is planned for 12 February (Sunday) with take-off expected after 8:00 a.m. ET. There is a second potential flight for 13 February (Monday). You can monitor the flight in real-time or see the completed flight path afterward at https://airbornescience.nasa.gov/tracker/#map.
Leave your snowboard out, with data collection occurring Sunday (12 Feb) and Monday (13 Feb) and continuing throughout the storm and 24 hours afterward if possible, or as soon as you can (e.g., if you are taking measurements at a school).
Measurements requested include:
New snow depth
Snowpack depth
Snow water equivalent
Clouds (optional)
Photos of snowflakes (optional)
Even if you don’t get precipitation in your area, recording and submitting zero precipitation is helpful for the mission. If you don’t get snow, measure the rainfall if possible.
