Davis Weather Station Support Changes

The "old way" of sending Davis weather station data via Email may be going away.

Davis Vantage Pro2

For many years, GLOBE has received Davis weather station data via email.  Users signed up with Davis, and once a day, the weather station data is sent to GLOBE.  While this system has worked for many years, all new Davis stations have been encouraged to use the "New way" to send their data to GLOBE which provides near real-time reporting and removes the need for email support.  This "new way" is preferred by both GLOBE and Davis.

Due to recent changes in GLOBE, the "old way" of sending Davis data to GLOBE may be ending in the near future, so we'd like to move all Davis users over to the "new way" of sending data to GLOBE.    The new way involves two steps:

1) Setup a (free) account with Davis's Weatherlink system and make sure your data is reporting to Davis.

2) Create a GLOBE atmosphere site (Type=Davis) and enter the Davis information.

Your data will start reporting to GLOBE within 24 hours.

You should also stop reporting your data via the "old way" once you've setup and confirmed the new way is working, so your data is not duplicated.

Here are links to:

1) How to setup your Davis weather station to report to GLOBE (the new way)

2) How to stop reporting Davis weather station data via the old way.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but setting up the new way will be more reliable, timely and should continue to be supported by Davis.  You can also download the Davis app to see your weather station data any time once you have the connection to Weatherlink working.

It is important to note – this does not affect anyone who has setup their Davis station in the last two years or so and used the Weatherlink connection to setup their reporting.

Post any questions below, and we'll do our best to answer.
