We’ve been posting alot of news stories lately and making them more interesting with pictures. Alicia discovered that when she was adding alt text to the images, it was changing them all to the same alt text. This isn’t a great thing to have happen and we reported it to GLOBE. In the meantime, Haley found a workaround to the problem so take a look at this short video if you are planning on posting a story with pictures and alt text in the near future.
Speaking of news stories, here are some for the 2022 SRS:

The U.S. Office met with the evaluator about the Student Research Symposia. Thank you to all the students, organizers, STEM professional reviewers and teachers who provided feedback on the events. It will be very helpful in planning as we move forward.
Last Thursday I had the opportunity to have lunch with the NSF-funded EMERGE project participants while they were at the University of New Hampshire. Grateful to my colleague Dr. Ruth Varner for giving me the time to share GLOBE with wonderful early career STEM professionals!
Last week’s Watercooler featured a NOAA BWET project by several GLOBE Partners using GLOBE in teacher professional development. Students will be studying the Great Lakes. The Partners have lots of tips for those considering hybrid workshop collaborations. Watch for the recording!
Yesterday the Letizel Center GLOBE Partnership (yes, we have a NH Partnership we try and keep running too) held a workshop for STEM Docents, teachers and informal educators on our Soil Tent! Digging soil pits is always fun!
One more tidbit! Shout out to Todd Toth and Rosalba Giaratano for this one! PowerPoint has the ability to put in live subtitles *in other languages* in case you are working with multilingual speakers and learners. Under Slide Show, go to Subtitle Settings, set Spoken Language to English, and Subtitles to another. There are many languages available!
